Asa Akira was born on 3 January 1986 in Manhattan, New York, U.S. She lived in SoHo and moved to Tokyo at age 9 when her dad, a picture photographic artist, was moved there for work. Akira came back to the US at age 13 and moved to Downtown Brooklyn and later Clinton Hill. Akira did her primary schooling at Chelsea Day School. Akira could secure a grant to go to United Nations International School in Manhattan since her granddad was a Japanese representative for 45 years. She wasn’t welcome to return in her sophomore year because of her horrible scores, so she enlisted in Washington Irving High School in Gramercy Park. She exchanged to City-As-School for her senior year. In a 2014 interview, Akira depicted her adolescence as being “flawlessly typical.” Her family communicated in Japanese at home and were “wellbeing nuts” who kept away from garbage sustenance. As a youngster, Akira worked at the kids’ bookshop Books of Wonder as a clerk.
Akira started her career as a dominatrix when she was 19 years old. She later worked as a stripper at the Hustler Club in New York. In 2006, she was a regular on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show and was known as the “Show Whore”. She met adult film actress Gina Lynn on the show, and she offered her p*rn work.
